The 2018 softball team at Pocomoke High School is coming to a start. As each individual has worked hard to make the team by running and giving their best, the players who made the team was officially posted Wednesday, March 7th, 2018. Senior, Piajah Johnson, was one of the players who made the team. however , she stood out from the rest because she was inexperienced.

“ I have a lot  friends on the team and both Cristen and Natalie encouraged me to play, since it was my senior year,” stated Johnson.

Being the only one who is inexperienced can be nerve wrecking. Many things may go through one’s head. Rather it’s if they will mess up in front of everyone or if they think they will be able to catch on as fast as the other during practice.

“Surprisingly, I am not intimidated by the other girls who have had more experience than me because I know I can be as good as them. I will just have push harder. I can do anything I put my mind to,” said Johnson.

Someone who is inexperienced may not receive as much playing time as someone who does. As Johnson said to get better you just have to push harder. That means taking the sport seriously and work hard in each practice.

“I plan on taking the sport very serious because if I fool around I may get injured. I also want to learn more about the sport. I think I’ll be able to catch on fast but I don’t think I will get a lot of playing time because the coach will probably play the more experienced before me, ” stated Johnson.

As the pocomoke High School softball team has began the real practices, the team will have to work together in order to reach their goal and to get far in the season. The will have to take each practice seriously and practice how they would play in a game.

“I think the team can go far as long as we work together as one team,” stated Johnson
