POCOMOKE---On November 28, 2016, at the Pocomoke Parade, Pocomoke High School (PHS) Marching Band came close to defeating Snow Hill High School (SHHS) Marching Band.

The SHHS Marching Band had scored an 87.8 pts for their sharp performance. PHS Marching Band instructor Bill Williams stated, “I thought the band performed well. Some students were nervous but performed well. We had a great crowd and a lot of support.” That performance helped the PHS Marching Band to receive a score of 87.3 pts.

Williams has recently took over the Band Department in which allowed the PHS Marching Band to improve. “The Band has improved in a number of ways. Our numbers have improved and the balance of our instrumentation has improved. We are a young band and if students work they will continue to improve”, explained Williams.

Even though the PHS Marching Band came within 0.5 pts of beating SHHS Marching Band that was not Williams’ only goal. “The goal is not to beat another band but to perform to the best of your ability. All of the students should be proud of their performance and to be within a half part of Snow Hill is great”, explained Williams.

Even though the PHS Marching Band did not beat SHHS Marching Band, the Warriors are definitely going to be a threat to any other bands they compete against. “The PHS Band will continue to improve and grow. Our performances will get stronger and cleaner with each performance and we will continue to represent PHS with pride and enthusiasm”, stated Williams.
