The start to senior year is supposed to be exciting and fun, they said. So far for most seniors at Pocomoke High school, it’s been overwhelming and very slow. The challenge is trying to keep everyone focused and motivated for the entire year until final exams are over.

Senior, Christopher Sanders, feels like his work can be completed, but it takes a lot of time and dedication. “It’s a lot of writing. It’s not really hard work, but it’s a lot,” said Sanders. Completing extra assignments for college can be tough while trying to do school work as well. This is where most seniors begin to forget about their school work because they are focused on getting into a good college.

After years of having the same routine of waking up, getting dressed, and getting to school at the same time everyday, the toll it takes on seniors can affect them in college. “After doing the same thing every morning for 4 years, I’ve gotten so used to it. Leaving high school will be sad because I’ll have to get used to a new routine.” said Sanders.

Balancing school work, scholarships, and college application deadlines can be a challenge. It takes a certain type of skill and focus to be able to maintain a good grade point average while applying to colleges. Sanders feels like he’s found a stable balance with getting his school assignments completed and still applying to colleges. “I’ve started applying to colleges. I get them done at home when I have free time,” said Sanders.

So many people claim senior year is the best year out of the four years in high school. It can be stressful, but if you have the determination and focus you need, it can be very overwhelming, yet exciting. “Yes, this has been my most exciting year so far because everybody pays more attention to you as a senior. They try to keep up with you and see what your next moves will be,” said Sanders.

Senior year can be a bit challenging but most students accomplish great things. The future holds even greater things after moving past the stagnant stage.
