After high school, people follow many different paths that may lead them to where they want to be in life. Devin Martin made the decision to enlist in the Marine Corps.

“I am enlisting to serve my country, simple as that.”

Serving your country takes a lot of sacrifices and will power and Martin is ready to take that step. Devin Martin has already put in hard work in dedication throughout his high school career. He joined the ROTC program his freshman year and from there on he knew joining the Marine Corps is what he wanted to do.

Under the direction of Christopher Muni, he was enlightened in the opportunities that come when enlisting in the Marine Corps. Some people enlist to serve the country because they are not sure of what they want to do but Devin is positive that this is the journey he wants to take on.

“My half-brother Alex inspired me to enlist into the Marine Corps,” said Devin Martin

Knowing of someone that serves your country now or in the past can inspire you to follow in their footsteps and that is what Devin is doing in this case.

The Marine Corps are a lot harder to get into than the other programs.

“I want to be a Marine because they are the first ones to go into battle,” said Martin.

Some people study while they are enlisted but Devin is waiting until afterwards to do that. Devin Martin is planning to enlist in the Marine Corps for about four years. Once he is enlisted for four years he gets the opportunity to have college benefits supplied to him. Devin is planning on studying Law Enforcement because that is a major he has always been interested in and may want to spend the rest of his life doing.
