Could Life On Mars Be Lurking Deep

posted Dec 20, 2018, 7:51 AM by PHS Warrior Beat

By Darron Pittman

Life on Mars could be about to hit a big break as scientist discovered that instead of searching the surface this whole time they have been searching that they should try to go deep into mars crust.

Scientist think that mars had life along with earth when they were young planets about 3.9 billion years ago.  Scientist Michalski said “Life could have emerged in those hydrothermal settings and survived in the subsurface for quite a long time”. They think that it could be like Earth’s crust and be deep and will provide some proof that there was ancient water.  A small microbes called cyanobacteria was found deep in earth’s crust and many think that if they can find it in mars crust that would be enough proof to believe that mars once had living conditions on its surface.

Lynn Rothschild an astrobiologist at NASA's Ames research center said that “cyanobacteria are one-stop shopping” she also said “they were able to turn our Earth into a place that is habitable for the animals to evolved here.

The hope that there could eventually be life on mars will always keep scientist going and discovering new ways to try to make it happen.

LG and Their Poster like Flat screen

posted Dec 20, 2018, 7:45 AM by PHS Warrior Beat

By: Colby Speta

LG is developing and will come out with a 65 inch OLED that could roll up like a poster in 2019.

In January of 2018 LG released the concept for the rollable flat screen but it wasn’t ready for consumers yet. According to DGR. com “Samsung may be the king of OLED screens for smartphones, but LG has virtually no competition when it comes to OLED TV sets.”.

With performance the TV would be 65 inches and a full 4k resolution. Also, “It’s as crisp and vibrant and beautiful as the rest of the company’s OLED portfolio, only it’s that extra bit thinner, allowing it to be rolled down (kinda like a projector screen flipped on its head).” according to the Verge.

“LG does its best to make a case for it in its press release, suggesting that it’s a great space saver and a boon for its portability. For those of us who keep our TVs mounted to a wall or situated on a stand for the entirety of their lives, that’s not exactly a huge selling point, but that’s not to say the technology won’t be useful in the future.” reported on why people would like this tv.

Senior Gabe Nock “Thats a really good idea, but I think it would be really expensive and wouldn’t be a viable option for the regular public.” Also Senior John Sigrist said “If i could roll up a 4K TV AND put it in my bookbag it would absolutely amazing.

Google’s 1-million-dollar campus

posted Dec 20, 2018, 7:25 AM by PHS Warrior Beat

By: Kaliyah Lunsford

Google has announced its plans to expand the employee numbers and the number of campuses in New York. Last Monday, Google shared the exciting news to spend $1 billion to create a 1.7-million-square-foot campus called "Google Hudson Square" in Manhattan's West Village neighborhood. The move will expand Google's presence near the Hudson River in New York City

Google already has headquarters in New York, located on 8th street. And just recently purchased another place earlier this year. Google has decided to expand its headquarters in New York, though. Google shared that it has locked down three new locations. Two of them are on Hudson Street and a third one on Washington Street of New York. A post made by Google's chief financial officer, Ruth Porat, says they plan to start moving into the Hudson Street buildings in 2020 and the Washington Street building, called the St. John's Terminal, in 2022.

Google already has a massive building in New York on 8th Street with 7,000 employees, and plan to have 7,000 more employees at the new campus. Earlier this year, Google purchased the Chelsea Market, across the street from the new campus, for $2.4 billion. Porat also posted that “Google will have capacity to more than double its headcount in New York over the next 10 years.”

Google isn’t the only headquarter that is expanding its campuses in the upcoming years, Last month, Amazon announced it will open one of its new headquarters in the Long Island City neighborhood of Queens in New York. Last week, Apple announced that it will invest $1 billion in a new campus in Austin, Texas and build new sites in Seattle, San Diego and Culver City, California.

Technology Has Changed Our Lives

posted Dec 19, 2018, 7:07 AM by PHS Warrior Beat

By: Tyler Baylous

Modern technology has made it possible for the discovery of many functional and utility devices like the smartwatch and the smartphone. With all of these revolutions, technology has also made our lives easier, faster, better, and more fun.

When it comes to the way we communicate, modern technology has had an impressive influence on communication in the 21st century and daily life in general. Very few students and teachers would disagree with this notion. The advancement in technology has made it possible for teachers to impart knowledge to students from any location.

In the past, there had to be a physical contact for any class to hold. Now, there is no specific need for that as both the tutor and the learner can communicate via different media and platforms such as Skype.

Digital technology has also changed what people term as ‘media.’ A media company isn’t necessarily a news platform anymore. A media company is now known as a company that helps pass information across the globe. According to Aging in Place, the global active web users now near 3.2 billion people.

That’s almost half of the world’s population. Around the world, two million smartphones are sold every day. The amount of information being shared on social media networks is phenomenal.

Social media isn’t the only big statement digital technology has made. Neither is social media the only way technology has had an impact in everyone’s life. There is also the mobile app store which is an online store for various apps of various functions.

The future of technology is even more interesting than what is happening right now. In few years, we will be talking about driverless cars and robots working in factories. However, let’s focus on highlighting the ways technology has changed our lives.

An 11-year-old boy in Cleveland is facing charges after taking police on a high-speed chase Sunday night after his mother took away his PlayStation.

The boy, whose name was not released by police, stole his mother’s 2013 Dodge Durango around 10:45 p.m. on Sunday after they got into an argument that led to her taking away his PlayStation, according to HuffPost.

She went to bed after the argument, only to be awakened by a phone call from the boy’s father, who said he saw their son driving the SUV.

The boy drove recklessly, reaching speeds above 70 mph, until he crashed the SUV into a parked truck, according to local station WEWS TV.

He was taken to a local hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries. It was the second time in 13 months the boy took the family’s car out for an illegal joyride, HuffPost reported.

In October of last year, he led troopers on a 50-mile chase on an interstate before being apprehended. He was charged with a felony in juvenile court. A judge ruled he was incompetent to stand trial, and the charges were dismissed.

He is currently at the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center, where he faces possible felony charges, according to HuffPost.

Police said the young suspect suffers from attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder, bipolar disorder and oppositional defiant disorder, Inside Edition reported.

A New Most Disliked Video on Youtube

posted Dec 17, 2018, 7:08 AM by PHS Warrior Beat

By: John Sigrist

There is now a new most disliked video on Youtube, and it is by Youtube themselves. Youtube’s recap video of 2018 has not been well received by its viewers.

The original most disliked video on Youtube, Baby by Justin Bieber music video, has accumulated just under 10 million dislikes over 8 years. The Youtube Rewind has overtaken that position in just under 8 days, making it get the most amount of dislikes in the shortest amount of time ever.

Youtubers have even made their own rewinds that have been better received by viewers.

Many people think that Youtube is out of touch with its community and the people that make content on their platform. By featuring youtubers that people barely know because they are advertiser friendly, and celebrities and twitch streamers that aren’t even Youtubers on their platform, they have alienated their core viewers of their website.

After the subscriber war between Pewdiepie and T series, Youtube did not even feature the most subscribed youtuber on their website in the rewind.
