Mary Lee a adult great white shark has been wandering around the east coast for a couple of years now. She is a 50 year old, 3 thousand 456 pound ,11 foot great white shark that was caught and tagged by OCearch and company that runs under the direction of seaworld.

Mary Lee has been tracked to come on the shore lines of Chincoteague Virginia and Ocean City Maryland. The only problem now is that the tracker that was placed on her dorsal fin may have died. The battery has a lifespan of 5 years and the shark had the tracker attached to her in 2012 according to Kristen Hugo from newsweek.

Some also believe that the shark has passed away but researchers say that it is very unlikely and it is just caused from the battery life.

Mary Lee has been tracked to go as far north as Cape Cod and as far south as the middle of Florida. This beast of a shark has  traveled out as far as Bermuda. She has dominated the waters wherever she has swam.

“Makes me very scared but i try to have someone out farther than me so when i go swimming they get eaten first” stated Cristen Quillen. She is just one of the few that are nervous about not being able to track the great white shark.

The shark was last tracked on June 17, 2017 and she was off the coast of Beach Haven, New Jersey. She was believed going back to the mating grounds, after giving birth in late May.

Mary Lee was one of the most popular animals that OCearch has ever tracked. She had her own Twitter page with over 13.4 thousand posts and 30 thousand followers. On Facebook she has over 70 thousand people who liked the page and are also following.

Just remember we never know where she could be, she’s been everywhere on the east coast and with a offspring on the run could we see another?
