Lately we've been hearing about a lot of school shootings, but yet we haven’t stopped to think about what we would do if a shooting were to ever occur at Pocomoke High school. Some know little about school shootings, however they know that shootings occur but they don’t know the steps to take if a shooter were to approach them. Asking students at Pocomoke if they knew what to do, Kayla Wheeless said “ My mother nor father thought about teaching me what to if a shooter were to ever approach me at school because when you think of, you think an safe environment.”

Students fear for their lives here at Pocomoke High School because of Not knowing the time or day when a shooting may occur. It doesn't help when we get a threat here at our school and parents aren't notified as soon as it happens, which becomes a bigger issue talking to senior Amy Chen she states,” I’m terrified to come to school s

imply because I may not make it back home to see my family and they mean the most to me.”

Administrators have us follow the protocol , but it seems like that doesn't work because not knowing the seriousness of the situation most students don’t take the drills serious, in a real or fake situation . “ The drills here at Pocomoke High should always be taking seriously.” says Diamonique Taylor

Being a parent is hard thinking your making the best decision sending your kids to school or anywhere for that matter. Wheeless says “ If I were a parent I’d be scared to send my child to school, I don’t think the teachers are well aware of what’s going on, so if there were a school shooting I would want to know and that’s just one think they fail to do is inform the parents about what’s going on at school.”
