On February 25 the Mayor of Pocomoke City, Bruce Morrison, returned home after experiencing a very tragic brain aneurysm in the middle of the night. The mayor was flown to Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware and then spent over twelve weeks recovering in Bryn Mawr rehabilitation.

In every aspect the tragedy of the mayor Bruce Morrison was hard on the city of Pocomoke and as a community, the town applied every intention into giving him a hearty welcome home.

“Local businesses from all over the town of Pocomoke, multiple people and families from the community, all Pocomoke schools, and  the acting mayor, Ester, who has been filling in for Morrison were all there to welcome their beloved mayor,” stated the Vice Principal of Pocomoke High School Jennifer Rayne. “The Pocomoke fire department made sure that the mayor was brought back into his town appropriately by leading him in with all of the fire trucks and engines,” said Rayne.

After countless weeks of the absence of their mayor, the people of Pocomoke became emotional as well and filled with concern.

“I was beyond filled with excitement and touched by all the support of the community when Morrison returned home, it was very clear to me that all of Pocomoke truly missed their mayor and wanted to personally make sure they welcomed him back home after an extensive time of recovery,” stated Rayne.

Of course the town was more than overwhelmed with excitement for the return of their mayor, but the heart of Morrison and his wife had to be a feeling like never before after weeks so much emotional stress.

“Mayor Bruce Morrison’s face was priceless and one I will never forget,” said Rayne. “ He and his wife were both extremely emotional and overly grateful for all the love and support and overall were just more than happy to be back in their loving hometown,” stated Rayne.
