VR Helps Calm Dental Patients and Flyers

By: Jasmine Richardson The thought of going to the dentists and flying can bring about anxiety. With new technological advancements, there is a easier way to relieve the stress. Virtual Reality provides soothing serene to the patients to relax the mind.

     According to CNN.com, research shows that the VR can help reduce pain and anxiety, also experts believe that “the technology’s ability to distract, may be the reason why it works.”

     Bryan Laskin, a dentist and founder of the  Operability states that “his dental practice VR is used far more than nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, and It's plausible, as studies have shown that the technology can reduce pain for, say, burn victims during excruciating wound-care procedures.”

     Skylights CEO David Dicko, a former Air France pilot, said “the company designed its own headset for passengers. It was designed for to lessen,  to make the flying experience more enjoyable, and to help passenger escape their surroundings.”
