Joey and Rory Feek, a country music couple, have been in the news a lot lately with updates of Joey’s fight with terminal cancer. On Monday, February 29th, Rory posted a tear-jerking update about his wife. He informs the followers that Joey has had all she can take and “over the last number of weeks her pain had gotten worse and her health had continued to decline rapidly”. On March 4th Joey passed away and is no longer in pain.

Joey Feek was taken under hospice care in November and recently said her farewell and last words to her family and friends including her two year old daughter Indiana. Rory writes "I set our little Indy on Joey's lap and we all cried with my wife as she told her how much her mama loved her and, 'you be a big girl for your papa … and that mama will be watching over you,'" he recalled. "And then she pulled Indiana up and she kissed her. One last kiss”. It is a heartbreaking story of how cancer can tear a family apart.

The latest update had been that Joey has been asleep for days now and that her body is quickly shutting down. "The hospice nurse came again this morning and said Joey will most-likely only be with us for a few more days at the most." Rory says. Even though this is a sad time Rory is trying to have a positive outlook on the situation for the sake of their daughter and himself. He is continually reflecting on their achievements and her individual ones. This year they received their first Grammy nomination together. It seems bittersweet compared to the timeline of their final months together but from Rory’s perspective, Joey has “lived a truly blessed life”.

Rory wrote, "In the 40 short years that Joey has lived, my bride has accomplished many great things, she's lived a very full life. But even more than that, she has loved those around her greatly and been loved greatly in return. I can honestly say that Joey's isn't just a life well-lived, it's a life well-loved."

Rory has kept everyone in the loop of Joey’s condition throughout this fight which started last year and thanks everyone for following his “wife’s beautiful journey”.  He says "Though our hearts are heavy we all need to do our best to remember that this is not the end. It's only the beginning."
