Merrimack River, MA----On Thursday, December 1, 2016 Lee Manuel Viloria-Paulino, age 16, was found decapitated in Merrimack River, MA. Paulino was from a Black-Latino family, while Borges was his classmate.

According to “Black Hispanic Family of Missing Teen Found Decapitated Asks Why Police Didn’t Do More”, Paulino had been missing for weeks. When the police were made aware of this they claimed that his disappearance was not serious.

“We are poor, we are Hispanic, they considered this a normal runaway case,” explained Ivelisse Cornielle, Paulino’s grandmother. Cornielle had told the police that it was not a normal runaway case.

The District Attorney’s office responded by saying they would use all resources available to find out what happened and resolve it.

Borges was arrested after evidence was found in his house connecting him to the crime. Corneille had wondered what would have happened to Paulino if the officers had responded quicker.
