After Alidy Clark’s dad passed away in November, the 3-year old decided to wear princess dresses every day to cope, after he would always call her “his little princess”. “Her therapist calls it coping with costumes,” Jenna Haslam, Alidy’s mom, told The Huffington Post. “Every day she puts one on and whispers, ‘Look, Daddy, I’m your princess.’”

According to Huffington Post, Alidy’s favorite costume is the one for Ariel from Disney’s “The Little Mermaid”.

March 22, Keegan Carnahan babysat Alidy, and Alidy loved her mermaid pink hair and believed she was actually a mermaid. When Alidy showed up to the Florida native’s house in her Ariel fins, Carnahan got an idea.

“I had gone through a phase a couple years ago in which I bought a mermaid tail that I could swim around in my pool in,” Keegan told Huffington Post, “I had it in my closet for a couple years so [Alidy] had never seen it.”

When it was time for Alidy’s bath, Carnahan gave her a surprise by showing up in her faux mermaid tail. “Alidy was smiling from ear to ear. She commented on how ‘beautiful’ my tail was, I was overjoyed. She has been having a really hard time comprehending her dad’s death, so I was so happy that she could spend 20 minutes being a worry-free little mermaid” said Keegan.
