The popular sports brand wants the former quarterback Colin Kaepernick to sign with them under one condition. If Kaepernick gets signed by a NFL team, he will be the new face of adidas.

Kaepernick “ignited” controversy when he was the quarterback for the 49ers back in 2016. He kneeled See the source imageduring the national anthem to protest against police brutality. He sat out all last season since no NFL team signed him as a free agent.

Mark King, the president of Adidas apparel and shoe companies North America division, said that they don’t want to give the impression that it’s “taking advantage of this noise or interest that he had generated,” King said. “If he signs on a team, we would definitely want to sign him.”

"We love athletes that have a platform to make the world a better place," said Mark King, president of Adidas's North America division, who was at Arizona State University for the university's Global Sports Summit, the Arizona Republic reported.
"If they're an activist in a way that brings attention to something that moves the world forward, even if there’s controversy at that moment, we’re really interested in those athletes because I think it represents the world today," King said when asked about Kaepernick.

“We’re not in the business of activism, we’re in the business of sport, " Kings said. "But allowing our athletes to tell their story, it’s really important to us.”

There is no guarantee that Adidas will sign Kaepernick. Just a while back, Kaepernick had a scheduled workout with the Seattle Seahawks but it was later postponed. The activist didn’t tell the Seahawks if he would discontinue his pregame protest.
