A bridge that was under construction collapsed near Bogota, Colombia on Monday. Although the bridge was under construction and was not operating at that time,
9 workers died instantly and the 10th victim died at a nearby hospital due to severe injury. When there’s a big construction project, such as building a bridge, there are
usually more than just 10 people working. Agency said that they are unclear on how many people were working at that time and are working to figure it out.
The construction on the bridge started in November 2016. Local media reported and according to La Nacion, the project included two bridges, one cable-stayed,
the other curved and built with concrete and was more than 2,500 feet.
The bridge was part of the main route connecting Bogota to Villavicenciol. It was evaluated to be 446 meters long, according to the National Infrastructure Agency.
Because the agency was not sure on who was there, there are probably still people missing from the scene.
