College is a place young adults attend to further their education and learn to become independent. With distractions and the feeling of no peace, that can be very challenging.

The University of Utah recently had a shooting that left one student dead. ChenWei Guo, student at UU, was killed by Austin Boutain in the attempt of Boutain stealing Guo’s vehicle.

The issue most students have with going to a college campus is their safety. With the way things are in the world today, most students are uneasy with being on a campus. There can be danger anywhere but at a facility where there is supposed to be more protection, the students begin to question their safety.

Many parents can be scared for their children when they leave for college. They are happy they want to further their education, but they never know what may happen while they’re away.

Students should be able to walk around on campus feeling safe and protected. Guo was an innocent student who never thought something like this would happen to him. It can happen to anyone if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Having vehicles on campus can be very beneficial to students so that they don’t have to walk to all of their classes. As for the students without vehicles, this can make them jealous and cause situations similar to this one.

The purpose of going to college is to focus on furthering your education. This can be hard for students when they have distractions such as killings on their campus. The scariest part about the issues with shootings on college campuses is the fact that it can happen to anyone at any time. Students have to be very observant and use their senses at all times.
