After Fyre Festival goers went to the Bahamas for the festival and there was hardly any shelter, food and transportation, a recent audio leak from a meeting between Billy McFarland, co-founder and rapper Ja Rule and employees revealed that the Fyre Media CEO will no longer pay his employees, but they were welcome to stay in the company and work unpaid if they wanted to.

McFarland told his employees that "After conferring with our counsel and all financial people, unfortunately we are not able to proceed with payroll immediately for the company, I understand that this is not an ideal situation for everybody."

According to MSN, McFarland said that he would rather focus on the Fyre Booking branch, and that employees will resume being paid soon. MSN also said that “employees raised objections that they would not be able to apply for employment benefits if they were not fired from the company”, and that McFarland said that he would fire them if they asked him personally.
