Graduating high school is the biggest milestone a child completes in their life. Talking to a few seniors here at pocomoke high school they told me how they’re preparing for college which is a big step for some.

Wanting to attend Bowie State University Diamonique Taylor is anxious, she’s eager to be accepted into her dream college, yet not knowing what she wants to major in.
“ I want to attend Bowie but I don’t know if I’m attending, they’re being slow with their accepting process” stated.

Nakai Johnson, Taylor’s best friend is also attending Bowie State. She wants to major in biology.

“ You have to major in biology in order to go to dental school” states Johnson.

Some students are undecided as to what they want to major in, some don’t know exactly and some are just going to college because they have to. Most people don’t really know what they want to do in their life so they may end up changing major’s each year to try and get a feel of things.

“I’m undecided as to what I want to major in. I don’t know what I want to do, I want to get a feel for things, so I know what I choose to do is exactly what I want to do” Said to Taylor.

Being nervous to attend college is normal. Not knowing a lot of people, the work gets harder, you get less sleep and your family isn’t there to baby you anymore or go to bat for you when something goes wrong.

“I’m nervous about college , it’s a new experience and I’ll be further from my family and it’s different” said.

“ I’m kind of nervous, meeting new people i’ve never met before and being shy makes it worse” Stated to Johnson.

Getting ready for college is hard not knowing whether you will be in debt after college or during college. Who’s going to be there for you, or even having a good college experience like your planning on having. You never know so you have to prepare for college mental, and emotionally.

“ Getting myself ready for college I’m going to work hard through me senior year. I’m not going to get senioritis and I’m applying for scholarships” Stated Taylor.

“Me on the other hand I’m doing the simple things going to guidance and doing other things on my own”Said Johnson.
