Have you ever wondered why healthy food are more expensive than a 4 for $4 box at Wendy’s? Naturally, most people love a juicy burger with a side of fresh fries and a cookie. However, the more expensive route can always be healthier.

Studies show that eating healthier costs about $1.50 more per day. That may sound insane but here are a few reasons why eating healthier is more expensive. According to a study at Harvard University, data shows that unhealthy diets are “inexpensive with high volume”.

People often go after the unhealthier diet plans because they are cheaper. Even though healthier foods are more expensive, marketers often get a group of people who support their expenses.

There are people who choose to have a healthier diet plan for personal reasons. It could be apart of their career, just for their personal health, or even to fit into a new outfit they spent a lot of money on. Either way, healthy dieting can be expensive.

Making a plan on how to diet can be overwhelming. Thinking about where the money will come from to provide the appropriate foods for your diet can also be tough.

Eating out can also put a damper on people’s diets. They may feel tempted to run away from their healthy lifestyle because they want to enjoy their “cheat night”. However, if one knows how to portion their meals, the unhealthy lifestyle can only be so bad.

There will always be an issue with healthy vs. unhealthy food expenses. A handful of people will support each side, due to funding.
