Pocomoke High school has come up with an idea to provide parking permits, with a fee of  $10 every school year for students who drive themselves to school. You may think it’s a great idea or you may think it’s a bad idea, and so can the students who attend Pocomoke High.

“I think it’s ridiculous because the parking lot is never full, so there isn’t really a need to ‘buy’ a spot,” said a junior student, Jennifer. “I don’t think it’s a good idea because there’s no purpose behind it in my opinion.”

There are students who feel as though they shouldn’t have to “buy” a spot, those who agreed also agreed that schools with a larger population should start providing parking permits for their students who do drive themselves to school, rather than schools with a smaller population who doesn’t necessarily need it. That way schools with larger populations are able to take the money raised, and put it towards something beneficial for their school.

“I think schools with larger populations should start because they could put the money towards expanding their parking lot, etc. but smaller schools don’t really need it,” Jennifer said.

Jennifer does state that the idea of providing parking permits helps the school collect extra money but besides that believes that it doesn’t help the school in anyway. “I don’t know where the money goes, because it's not like there’s anything big going on in the parking lot.”
