On Wednesday, March 21, the baseball and softball teams were scheduled to have their first games of the season. The same day, track was supposed to have their first meet. All athletic events were cancelled due to the heavy rain and strong winds.

In result to all games and meets being cancelled, the teams have continued to get extra practice before their first games of the season. The boys baseball team is traveling to Hurlock, MD, on Saturday, to face North Dorchester.

“I felt excited that our games were delayed to another day because playing in bad weather could have affected our play, and with the game being postponed it gave us more time to practice,” said Shawn Taylor, a junior on the baseball team.

The girls’ softball team’s game has not yet been rescheduled but should be in the next few days.

“I was kind of disappointed because I was excited to play our first game and I felt like we were ready to play that day, event though all the additional practice is good, I feel like we are tired of practicing and ready to show our skill on the field,” said Monique Snead, a senior on the softball team.

All sports team will continue to practice and better prepare themselves for their opening spring season games. These delays could greatly benefit the spring sports teams as they will all come out prepared and ready to play during their first games.
