Every day there is a careless person who gets into a vehicle and drives while intoxicated. Driving while under the influence of alcohol is a severe problem that most people do not take into consideration. Just yesterday a teen in California live streamed a video of her driving under the influence.

According to CBS News, 19 year old Obdulia Sanchez has been sentenced to more than six years in prison for driving drunk and also livestreaming the fatal crash that killed her younger sister who was just 14 years old. This young girl not only drove while being drunk but also had a passenger in the vehicle with her, putting both of their lives in danger and those driving around them. The 19 year old now has to live the rest of her life knowing she made a huge mistake that involved losing her younger sister.

Nowadays, people will get into their car after a party while completely intoxicated not thinking about the danger they are possibly about to put themselves and others in. “I am fine, I barely had anything to drink,” is what they say, just to end up in an unfortunate and fatal situation.

Each year there are high amounts of car accidents caused by a person driving irresponsibly, while under the influence of alcohol.

According to Cdc.gov, in the year of 2015, 10,265 people were killed in alcohol impaired crashes in the United States. This data was from three years ago and they only get higher because people make unwise decisions like this on an everyday basis.

“I know someone that was drinking and driving and died in an accident and it makes me against driving while under the influence,” said Pocomoke senior, Cristen Quillen.

People who do not allow drunk driving are much appreciated, they may know what it feels like to lose someone close to their hearts from either drinking and driving or being a victim of an intoxicated driver.
